LT Heavyweight

Since I started working for Zuffa I have now lost around 25lbs. I wanted to go from heavyweight (206-265lbs) to light heavyweight (186-205lbs)

After a lite jog this morning I got on the scale and hit 205.0lbs on the nose.

Hooray Me.

In that time I've dropped two pant sizes and had to start buying a new wardrobe because my clothes no longer fit. Well, they did fit if I was going for that hip hop look.

I hope to be around 190lbs by this time next year and with that I hope comes some abs. You know a 6 pack? Just not the beer version.

Give it up for the French

I was scrolling though a site the other day and came across some interesting info.

In France, all new apartment buildings have to be prewired for fiber optic cable.

(write up)

Now granted, some places claim to have broadband but it's really just a little faster than dial up and the upload speeds are garbage. However, the fact that the French government is pushing this is a good sign that Western European countries are thinking ahead.

Sports and Blogging

A future legend will be the person who figures out the guidelines for bloggers in sports.

Believe it or not the NY Times printed a great article about this issue. Some of you may remember that last season the NFL dropped the hammer put all kinds of (in my view silly) restrictions on online media in an effort to drive all video traffic to NFL.COM. Novel idea but some of the restrictions were/are just retarded.

We are at the beginning of this issue. Bloggers are going to become a necessity in sports just like stats are to fantasy players. However where the line is drawn is going to be the major issue. What's going to prevent a blogger from blogging about how poorly they were treated by the PR department? Granted a "news" reporter could do the same thing but it's highly unlikely that they would.

The important thing to remember is that blogs and sports are a two way street. Both could function without each other but that's not forward progress.  There needs to be a happy medium where bloggers know the line and PR people understand that while bloggers may criticize 95% they are going to praise.

Anfield Blunder

I think that's what they're calling it. John Arne Riise put in an own goal in the 94 minute of Liverpool's Champions League semifinal match against Chelsea sending the Blues back to West London with a 1-1 draw.

I think Homer Simpson said it best, "Duoh!"

At&T Browser?

Apparently AT&T is getting into the browser game. Because it's worked so well for other telecom's and cable companies. The thing is apparently a system pig as well.

Newspaper beats TV

Will this be the headline in a few years?

I keep seeing more and more newspapers going into video online while more and more local TV stations cut back and still pretend that online doesn't matter.

Granted this may have changed. I've been out of local TV for a few years now but what I still from local affiliates online is still not what it should be.

A few years ago it seemed like local TV stations were about to swallow the local newspapers whole. Now it appears the tide has shifted. I believe that with another Republican White House that more deregulation will occur and with it a consolidation in the marketplace.

This means a few things for the people. 1) less jobs in the market. More one-man-bands 2)I think a better knowledge of local politics and 3) just flat out better coverage of local markets because of the non-time limit restraints of video online.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think I am. I think at this point deregulation is a good thing and people who cannot or are unwilling to multitask should be out of work.

Good Tuesday?

Fuck Fat Tuesday today was good Tuesday. The Tennessee Lady Vols won their 8th National Title in women's college basketball and Liverpool came from behind to beat Arsenal in the Champions League to advance to the Semifinal against Chelsea.

Whoo Whoo.

Pat Summitt has now won 8 national titles and been runner up 4 other times. She has won some 993 games all with Tennessee.

Rafael Benitez has is trying to get Liverpool to it's 3rd Champions League finale in 4 years. He won it his first year with the club and was a runner up last season. Earlier this season some were calling for his head. Now, after a 4-2 win over Arsenal to advance into the Semifinal, those roars have quieted down.
